The recipient is Nick Irwin.<\/p>\n<p>He pursued an undergraduate degree in Political Science and hopes to attend Law School. He was on the Dinos Men&#8217;s Rugby Team.<\/p>\n<p>The Calgary Branch sponsors an award in the History Department. An undergraduate student receiving the highest marks in a course on Canadian History is awarded $1200 for the year earned.<\/p>\n<p>This award was started in 1966 when the University of Calgary became a separate school from the University of Alberta. It was a value of $50 then and increased to $200 in 2009.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucalgary.ca\/registrar\/awards\/united-empire-loyalists-association-canada-history-prize\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">United Empire Loyalists Association of Canada History Prize<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In March 2018, the Branch completed the delivery of additional funds to raise the award to $500 for 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Further funds are being added with the goal of raising the award value to $1000. Anyone can donate funds to the university in order to help reach the target. In the spring there is a Giving Day program which matches funds that are donated during that period.<\/p>\n<p>The recipient for 2024 is Logan Jaspers.<\/p>\n<p>He is a fifth year student majoring in Political Science and minoring in History. he is considering a literary career involving writing and reading.<\/p>\n<p>The recipient for 2023 was Alexandria Goreham.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-515 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/uelac.org\/calgary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/A.-Goreham-300x189.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"189\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uelac.org\/calgary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/A.-Goreham-300x189.jpg 300w, https:\/\/uelac.org\/calgary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/A.-Goreham-1024x645.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/uelac.org\/calgary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/A.-Goreham-768x484.jpg 768w, https:\/\/uelac.org\/calgary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/A.-Goreham-800x500.jpg 800w, https:\/\/uelac.org\/calgary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/A.-Goreham-953x600.jpg 953w, https:\/\/uelac.org\/calgary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/A.-Goreham.jpg 1170w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Alexandria has two years left of her concurrent history and education degree. After that she plans on continuing to a Masters degree. Through her travel and field opportunities she has become interested in participating in ensuring that museums and public history are available to everyone.<\/p>\n<p>The recipient for 2022 was Cerys Neumann<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/uelac.org\/calgary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Cerys.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Cerys is a fourth year student working toward a degree in History and Political Science.<\/p>\n<p>The recipient for 2021 was Sabrina Kooistra.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/uelac.org\/calgary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Sabrina.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sabrina is a fifth year Bachelor of Arts student set to graduate with a double major in History and Communications and Media Studies. She grew up on a small farm outside of Strathmore. She started freelance writing early beginning at the Strathmore Times and continued through university with articles in the Undergraduate History Journal.<\/p>\n<p>The recipient for 2020 was Jacob Storek.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-289 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/uelac.org\/calgary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/U-of-C-Award-2020-241x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"187\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uelac.org\/calgary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/U-of-C-Award-2020-241x300.png 241w, https:\/\/uelac.org\/calgary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/U-of-C-Award-2020.png 339w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 187px) 100vw, 187px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jacob is in the fourth year of the Law and Society Program. He\u2019s been passionate about history for his entire life, and Canadian history ever since he watched <i>Canada: A People\u2019s History<\/i> in school. In his spare time, he enjoys boating, skiing, and long walks in national parks.
