Military Info : His military service in the First New Jersey Volunteers was with Captain Cougle's Company, in which he was part of the light infantry in Sept 1780, on Staten Island. After the war, he became a Captain in the St. John County Militia.

Family History : He was the grandson of William Moelich who had been born in 1724 in Bendorff near Coblentz, Germany. His father Gottfried left there in 1724, for British Colonial America where he lived at various times in Philadelphia, then Somerset County, PA, and finally settled in Greenwich West, New Jersey in 1747. He died 11 Sept 1766.

William's wife Margaret's maiden name was Folkenburger. She was the daughter of Christopher and was born on 2 February, 1733. William had 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
