Biography : Born on a plantation near Baltimore MD William married Hannah Phillips of Yorktown, VA, a beautiful southern belle. They settled along Forresters Creek, in the newly created Orange County, North Carolina where his older brother, Robert had 385 acres. See British Legion, Capt Jacob James, for the Loyalist service record of both William and Robert (who died in the War, about 1781, survived by Jane his wife, and 2 sons, John, and Thomas). William arrived at the mouth of the Gennesee River in August, 1792, where the gunboat of his good friend, Lt Colonel John Graves Simcoe, brought him to Niagara. Lots 31 & 32 C6, Lots 32 & 33 C7, and Lots 32 & 33 C8 Saltfleet were all patented to William on 10 Mar 1797. Of all his Saltfleet and Trafalgar properties his most famous was Harmony Hall, a colonial mansion built at Mt Albion, Hamilton (L34 C6, near where Mud St intersects with Lincoln Alexander Parkway).
