They had been detained by the New York Committee On Detecting and Defeating Conspiracies for "harbouring, entertaining and concealing emissaries of the British."
William had property in New York and Rupert, VT which had been purchased from Jeremiah French in 1770. YThe property was seized and sold at public venue on 15 Feb 1781.
A reward was put on Frenchs' head for$500 and William Draper's for $200. All this information is recorded.
The Drapers grew up in areas of Canada at the time but it has been difficult to find the locations. It is believed that Canada is where William escaped to.
