Option 2: Morning presentations

The Lure of Gold, presented by Dave Sayer, brings to life the story of John ‘Cariboo' Cameron, one of the most fascinating characters in the history of the province. Sayer, whose own family arrived in the province in 1863, created his Cariboo Cameron show in 1990 for the historic town of Barkerville, and has performed it more than 1,000 times.

Christine Pilgrim presents The Overlanders, the story of the hardships endured by the migrants who came with Thomas McMicking, UE, through the wild Rocky Mountains, from Canada, in a Red River cart in 1862. Visit Christine's website.

Peter Moogk, UE, PhD, and author of La Nouvelle France, will discuss the Loyalist descendants who helped shape British Columbia. Peter is a professor emeritus in history at UBC, and an active member of the Vancouver branch of the association. He is currently conducting research for his next book.

Cowboy Dinner Show with Rob Dinwoodie and Friends at the historic O'Keefe Ranch. Visit the oldest ranch in the Interior of British Columbia, see black powder demonstrations, and try your hand at gold-panning with the Vernon Placer Miners. Our guest speaker is O'Keefe Ranch curator Ken Mather.
Allergy sufferers, please be forewarned - this is a working ranch in hay season!

The meeting will take place in the Prestige Inn & Conference Centre.
Following the AGM, the Dominion Council will meet in an adjoining room.

- The 36th annual Creative Chaos Craft Fair, the largest event of its kind in Western Canada, featuring over 200 artisans in three buildings and FREE admission.
- Vernon's Heritage Murals: 27 building-sized tributes to the people, events and geography that helped to shape the gorgeous Northern Okanagan.
- The Vernon Museum and Archives specializes in the rich history of the Northern Okanagan Valley. Home to the Interior Salish for thousands of years, the valley was explored by fur traders in the early 1800s, who led the way for gold miners, missionaries and ranchers, who recognized the untapped beauty of the region.
